On Sunday our baby boy turned 1. Where has the last year gone? In my little bubble, he is still a tiny baby. But, nope… 365 days have passed since Jimmy’s swift arrival and he has grown into such a lovely little boy with so much character.
After 3 girls, our boy arrived. He is our last baby and I crave for every day to last a million more. I need time to slow down, to absorb everything about him. Our girls are growing up so fast. I knew that our few baby-months with Jimmy would go just as fast too, but it’s only when you sit back on your baby’s 1st birthday does it really hit home just how quickly those previous 12 months really have gone.
We woke up on Jimmy’s birthday and ate chocolate waffles. A real rare treat! We watched him unwrap presents, play for a while and then we all went down the road to our local 360 Play centre. He explored the baby area while his sisters took themselves off to shoot down huge slides, ride go-karts, and squeal loudly.
Jimmy spent time in the ball pit, played with musical instruments and was free to climb as much as he pleased. We all enjoyed lunch at 360 and headed off home to have a small party.
We invited just family for the afternoon, which was ideal. We sang, played games and ate cake.
Jimmy crashed asleep at 7pm and was out solid. He was a very tired little boy.
And that’s it. The day passed just as quickly as the previous ones. Gone in a flash.
For those of you who have just given birth to your final baby, savour every moment. You blink and they’re no longer a baby. Take a million photographs, leave the housework to fester in exchange for cuddles and never ever feel guilty for cuddling them all the time.
