Summer In The Garden

This post is an entry for the BritMums’ #KidsGoWild Challenge, with MoneySupermarket.

I had a ‘missed parcel’ slip yesterday when I returned home from playgroup…. And I knew exactly what is was, my little surprise for Willow… A gardening kit for first time (little) gardeners!

I collected the package today, and what was inside the parcel was fantastic! There was a beautiful gardeners handy bag, containing 3 packs of flower seeds, a trowel, a fork, a watering can and a set of lovely gardening gloves…. All in miniature- perfect for little diggers! Although the gloves are a little big for her at the moment, but she will grow into them πŸ™‚

I like to spend time in my garden growing my own vegetables and enjoying the sunshine (when we actually have any), and because we have just moved house, I have not had much time to explore the new garden and get much sorted. My little girl Willow loves to try and help out too. I believe it is very important from a young age to introduce her to the enjoyment of growing-your-own and respecting the soil of which our food comes from.
Here is Willow exploring the contents of her new bag….

Once out in the garden, I helped Willow water our cabbages that I have previously planted, making sure she understands that the water belongs in the can and on the soil NOT in her shoes and down her tights!!

We then decided to plant some of the sunflower seeds which came with the kit. Willow filled up the pots (with some help) and then pushed the seeds into the soil and gave them a good drink.

I shall have to keep you updated with the sunflower seeds and how tall they grow! We have yet to plant the other flower seeds that came in the pack, but expect another post about that another day πŸ™‚
