Me & Sofa’s… It’s always been an odd relationship. I seem to have gone full circle with it really. I grew up with nan and granddad (as some of you may know) and spent years on their ‘granny style’, straight backed sofa, I moved out and always had either the sofa that was in the property or went without (We once had seats ripped out of a classic Mini to sit on once!), next house- gained a dodgy smelling old sofa from a ‘free items’ website (I was desperate and very grateful for the generosity of the people who listed it), Then I met Jay, we moved in together and we brought a sofa from a second-hand-ally type shop for £20 (which was equally as smelly) and then my Nan (the other nan this time) donated us her sofa. They were moving house and decided to give us their old one. Its clean, and doesn’t smell and kind of fits in with the rest of my ‘don’t-knock-it-even-though-its-most-likely-come-from-a-dead-persons-house’ furniture purchased from several charity shops. In other words, nothing in my living room matches! So far it is actually my favourite sofa I have had the pleasure of perching my bottom upon.
But, we are a married couple now with 2 children and professional jobs. Maybe it is time to get a new one. We only have a little living room and it is quite funny shaped (much like every other room in the house) so choosing a new sofa is actually quite hard. It must be child resistant, with stand jumping, sleeping, spillages, wax crayons and muddy people (my dad is always muddy when he visits). Corner sofas also take my fancy, as we will be able to seat more people and use the limited space that we have wisely, whilst still managing to look stylish… agh so many things to think about! Oh, and did I mention that we don’t have a huge budget?
When the miracle happened that I had 2 children asleep at the same time, I headed over to HelloSofas, who promise luxury and affordability (that’s what I like to hear!) and had a cheeky browse, coffee in hand and box of jaffa cakes on the side. And this is what I found…. PERFECT!
Now, all I need to do is convince the husband…….
