Pregnancy

Not Long Left Now!

I officially have just 6 days now until my due date. Things are definitely on the move and we are soon going to be meeting our smallest little girl. Are we ready? I hope so!

38 weeks ivy

On Thursday I took a trip to our local maternity unit as I had been contracting for a couple of days but nothing was progressing. Apparently third babies are notorious for taking their time to get a move on, unlike second babies who often like to take things a little quicker! The midwife could see that I was exhausted, it had been 3 nights since I had properly slept and I was starting to become very upset. She offered to perform an internal examination to see where I was at. I was still only a stretchy 2 cm dilated (but this is better than nothing!) but I am starting to efface… some progress but a long way to go yet! She performed a little stretch and sweep at the time of the examination to see if this would move things along a little quicker. She only offered the S&S as she could see how tired I was becoming and my cervix was favourable, meaning that baby was starting to think about breaking free 😉

I am now 48 hours since my sweep and still no baby. I am still contracting every 10 minutes and I am starting to become tired again. Although the sweep has definitely moved things along a little after having a slight show, and I am developing a rather powerful back ache.

This pregnancy really has reminded me how every pregnancy is different, and how 3 siblings can all arrive in different fashions. I was induced with Willow at 38 weeks due to complications, Olive came flying out at 39 weeks after a very ‘rushed’ weekly shop around Tesco, but I really am half expecting this baby to stay cosy longer, possibly until an eviction notice is served!

Today the husband and myself spent the day toddler free (rare occasion, and ouufff it was a treat!) shopping for our very last bits and getting the baby bits ready and organised in the house. If I was to POP! tonight, I think we are ready. I think… I hope…… Gulp!
