Best Boot Forward – Putting Things Off

My regular readers may have seen previous posts for #BestBootForward – a regular feature hosted from the lovely ladies who blog at IndigoWilderness and Kate On Thin Ice. Weekly, these ladies want to help women succeed to fulfil their 2019 wishes. It’s been so great reading lots of positive posts weekly and seeing our blogging friendships grow.

This week, Kate has some thought provoking questions on procrastination. STOP PRESS: I have some exciting answers!!

  1. What are you putting off? Knuckling down and working on my book. Yup! A BOOK! You heard it here first. It’s non-fiction and is about a topic very close to my heart. It could potentially help a lot of people financially and live a healthier life. I’ve been meaning to write it for a couple of years. A few weeks ago I made a serious start on it, but I keep telling myself that no one will find it interesting, or that I am good enough as an author.
  2. How does putting it off make you feel? Annoyed at myself! I own a Kindle and I’ve read my fair share of free self-help books on it. I hate to say it, but many of which were totally forgettable. I suppose I am worried that my book will be the same. It’s quite an embarrassing thought really. I know I shouldn’t feel like this, as so many people have told me to write it. I just don’t want to let them down!
  3. What would happen if you took action instead of procrastinating? I’d have written a book! It may not be amazing, super intelligent or worthy of an award but I still would have written it. I may even have changed someone’s life. If anyone actually reads it, that is.
  4. How risky is the gamble you are taking by putting something off? Not risky at all. In fact, I suppose I am taking a risk by writing it! The only real risk I run by not writing it, is that I never shall fulfil my wish.

  1. Hazel, this is super news! Well done on taking the plunge and I can’t wait to read the finished thing. The very first #BestBootForward book! Glad you’re back on track after your little one being ill and I hope you have a great and productive weekend ahead! x

  2. I don’t know why but I am also guilty of procrastination when I’m scared of doing something deep down inside so it’s great that you are going to get cracking now!

  3. That isn’t amazing! I have a booo idea in my head but a fiction book and I should really get to it, but life does have a habit of getting in the way. Maybe this is the year?? Good luck with your book, you are so right about self help books

  4. I thought you might be announcing that you were expecting but in a way you are and we are now too. You can do this – we all can write books and too many of us put it off for the daftest of reasons some of which you quote in this post. Jackie Collins once told me when I said I wanted to write a book “Just do it”” which says it all really and one day I will but in the meantime you can show me the way. Thanks for linking up with Best Boot Forward

  5. Oh wow I love the idea of Best Boot Forward! What an amazing feature and a lovely thing for you all to do. I’m planning to create a planner in time for 2019 so I might join in to push myself. Good luck with your book, it sounds like you’re going to have a fun journey working towards it in 2018. I think I need to take these questions and answer them myself, then put the answers on my wall to stop myself from not doing it!
