It’s a hard truth to face as a parent when you figure out your little one is not fond of bath time. You now know the nightmare you are going to be facing every time your child needs a bath. But, we are here to tell you that it does not have to be such a tedious challenge. You do not have to chase after your child as they go skyrocketing down the hall in their towel, away from the dreaded tub. Instead, you can make it fun for them and easier for you.
No More Tears
Some children hate bath time because they do not like getting water or sometimes soap, in their eyes. To fix this, you can buy small toy buckets that makes bathing more friendly or even a visor that keeps water off your child’s face completely. If you do this, we are certain your child will no longer protest when you desperately try to wash their hair.
A Different Time
If you have a young child they may not be able to express why they do not want to go for a bath, they will just yell, scream and tantrum. But their issue may have nothing to do with the bath itself. It could be because their bath time collides with something that they want to watch on TV or you have changed a routine they were used to following. Try taking them for a bath at a different time and see if this fixes the problem.
Teach Them To Swim
Can you learn to swim in the bath? Well, you can teach your child the basics in a bathtub, particularly when they are little. We suggest that you fill the tub a little higher than usual and as long as you are supervising, teach them how to keep themselves above the water, dive and resurface. They will love it, and it will make bath time a lot easier because while they are doing this, you can bath them properly.
Try A Shower
Of course, you may just have to accept that your child is not a bath person and would much rather have a shower instead. You can coax them into having a bath by showing this is how you wash their dog or even one of their dolls, but ultimately, you might find it easier to let them wash in the shower. This does make things a little more difficult for you, but you will find it easier to get them into the bathroom in the first place.
Give Them Some Independence
We know that young children cannot have a bath without supervision. It is far too dangerous, but you can give them a little more independence by letting them wash themselves and even letting them choose when they have a bath. If you do this, they are making their own bathing routine and may find this easier and less stressful.
If you take these tips, we are sure bathtime will not be such a nightmare in future.
