We love Cbeebies favourite the Alphablocks. The educational cartoon programme shows the lively and fun team of 26 letters, having fun with phonics.
I spotted the Alphabocks team at The Birmingham Baby Show and ran over to them waving my arms above my head in excitement (literally) to see what their new reading programme had to offer. The fantastic Alphablocks reading programme is a complete set, that develops your child’s reading skills in one easy to follow programme, from their very first encounters with letters to a confident foundation in reading.
It’s a fun and exciting time when your child starts to learn to read, and Willow is just starting this amazing stage in her pre-school years. She has always shown a huge interest in books, sometimes sitting in bed and reading way past her bed time (while this is lovely to see, it does leave us yawning the next day) and always asks for new books when in our local book shops. She just can’t wait to learn to read for herself and develop her relationship with books. I am a heavy reader and can often be found stuck into a good book or tucked in a corner with the Kindle.
The Alphablocks reading programme takes your child through step-by-step stages of phonics learning with 15 bright colourful magazines full of activities to help your child learn letters and the sounds. The kit also comes with over 450 stickers, 100 letter tiles, flashcards, games, pencil case, gold star stickers and a certificate! Everything is in the one pack for your child to learn to read!
The programme is divided into 3 stages of leaning, the first pack steadily introducing all the letters and their sounds, and each stage slowly introducing more complex letter blending and words. Finally finishing with a certificate when your child has competed the programme.
Willow has started on pack 1, and is currently working her way through the first magazine. Letters are introduced, and your child can follow letters on the paper with a pencil learning how to write the letter, then an activity to reinforce learning the letter and it’s sound. After just 1 hour sat with the magazine in her first session Willow had already picked up the letters S, A and T… of course, reading ‘sat’ during that first session. Gold stars were awarded and we had a very happy child who now looks for those letters everywhere and proudly reads them to us each time they are spotted. Proud child and very proud parents! I was amazed how quickly she picked it up and really enjoyed learning. She is constantly looking for the letters that she knows, everywhere we go now.
I shall keep you all updated with Willow’s reading progress using the Alphablocks reading programme over the coming months and slowly introduce Olive to reading too although I think she is a little way off of being ready to start her reading journey right now.
You can buy the Alphablocks reading programme complete is one easy pack for just £39.99 from here.
