I Like My Kitchen Outside

With these long summer nights, I often find us cooking outside on our diddy BBQ. So far this year we have had a few quite dinners prepared on our barbie and we have already had a good few gatherings with our friends and a few beers!

The kitchen is where I spend many many maaannyyy hours of my day. Breakfast, wash up, lunch, wash up, dinner, wash up… not to mention baking with the kids, whipping up some home made ice lollies and even mixing up some fresh salt dough! But I do like to take my kitchen outside. I love the fresh air, I love having the open sky above me and I love cooking on the real heat of coals! I cant do that inside, I’d end up with a huge landlord bill and a tonne of fireman around to party!

The kitchen in my house is very family centered, but sometimes, we all need a bit of relaxing time to spend as adults. And taking my time to cook outside and making my garden into a makeshift kitchen is good for the soul.
What’s better than getting everyone together, getting the kids sent off to nanny’s, having some much needed ‘adult time’, cooking faaaaar too much food, having a laugh and playing a few card games over a good classic flame grill?
The answer? Not much!

But, come Sunday morning when we are all hungover and every marinated meat on this planet is still sat heavy in our tummies, we all have to face the most dreaded thing ever.
The big clean up.
Yes, every plate has been used and all are covered in a greasy film. Every kitchen utensil has also been used and similarly covered in that gloopy mess (what do our insides look like?? Who cares, last night was EPIC!). The BBQ is full of ash, empty beer cans line the kitchen work top (and every other type of flat surface within the property) and there is a smokey smell still in the air.
Luckily, I don’t think much of it. I whip the beer cans into the recycling, throw the crockery and cutlery into the dish washer, chuck in some of the magic (Fairy Platinum, FYI) and worry about the surface mess rather than sweat it out over the washing up bowl.
Leaving me more time to chill on the sofa watching Breaking Bad, working off that hang over, before the kids come home!!

Fairy Platinum has been giving us outstanding performance getting out dishes and cutlery absolutely sparkling. Great for that post party TLC that your kitchen needs 🙂
