Yup, you read that correctly. We met a mammoth. A real one. And we didn’t need time travel!
The Natural History Museum in London are holding the fantastic exhibition Mammoths: Ice Age Giants at the moment, all about our favourite extinct wooly things.
We headed on the train to London and made our way to the beautiful historic museum.
We soon found our Mammoth friends and were instantly lost for words! These huge spectacular animals were brought to life in front of our very eyes!
We were allowed to take pictures of everything in the museum, except for Lyuba (pronounced Looba) the perfectly preserved one month old baby Mammoth. We soon found her, preserved in all of her glory, and so tiny (ok, tiny-ish) and cute, little whisps of ginger hair still sat on her skin, and her little trunk!! Oh she was so cute! I was absolutely blown away with the fact that I was looking at a REAL LIFE 42,000 year old MAMMOTH! No longer were mammoths a picture in my head from kids books or movies like Ice Age, this was real, right before my eyes! She was preserved so perfectly because she fell and died in wet clay and mud and then froze, very quickly. Here is a picture of her from the web, so not one that I took myself unfortunately.
As we wandered around the exhibition, I found myself gasping over and over again at the stunning artefacts on display and the incredible models of giant mammoths that had been made for the exhibition.
Oh, and we can’t forget how me and Willow wrestled tusks!
The exhibition is open to the public until September 7th and you do need tickets for the exhibition. But, why not have a great look around the rest of the Natural History Museum for FREE? A great day out for the whole family, that will create some incredible memories.

I was given tickets for the exhibition in exchange for my honest thoughts to be shared about our experience.
