Cute Hanging Bats

Ok, so it’s not Halloween for a while yet but Willow has a bit of a thing for all things spooky at the moment. Spiders are her favourite creature and bats, ghosts and witches all come in joint second.
This morning she excitedly had the idea that she wanted to make some bats (?!) and after a little head scratching from me, I worked out how to do it!

So, if you would like to make these cute little dangly bats here is all you need…

Tin foil
Black plastic (bin bag will do)
Paper (black and white)
Googley eyes
String (black is best)
PVA or Stick glue

Start by rolling your tinfoil into ball shapes.

Then cut enough plastic (in a rectangular shape) that would cover the foil easily, with enough to bunch as ‘wings’.

Tape the plastic, as if you were wrapping a parcel, and secure the wings into shape with some string. Black looks best!

Next, stick on some googley eyes! If you don’t have any of these eyes, draw some into white paper and glue onto the Bat instead 🙂

Now you need to make some ears and teeth. Using some black paper and white paper cut out 2 triangles in each colour for each bat. You could always just use scraps of paper (or card) from the recycling! Save the planet!

Finally, tape some more black string to the top of their heads and hang from a spooky place!!

Why not have a go at making some spider to hang, you could use pipe cleaners for legs? You could even make some ghosts instead of bats, by using a white plastic bag and draping over the tin foil! If you’re not a spooky fan, how about some bumblebees or ladybirds? Let me know in the comments below what fun dangly creatures you have made!
