Super Ski Jump Game Review & Giveaway

You’ve probably realised by now that we love a good game. Be it a table-top game, an RPG (Role Playing Game) or a card game, we are all over it! Today, I bring to you Super Ski Jump, a game of skill and quick actions. I’ll be honest, this game is totally different to the usual games that we play. But, as long as the kids have fun, we will play anything. However we are huge fans of Drumond Park, and we own quite a few of their games.

The aim of Super Ski Jump is to master some tricks, by sending your skier down the slope and flipping them once they reach the bottom, you score points for how many flips they do and how well they land. You can send your little man down the slope of a pair of skis, on a slede, a snowboard or in a bathtub! There are 3 rounds for all players and scores are added up at the end of all 3 rounds, revealing the winner.

Set up

Initial set up of the game does take quite a while. Due to the size of the game when set up, you have to assemble the game before play. The first time you do this will also require you putting on stickers and reading some lengthy instructions. I’ll be honest, I was a little confused looking at the instructions at times. I feel that set-up could have been made a little easier for the buyer if the stickers had already been pout into place before being boxed. But, that’s because I am quite lazy and I prefer my games to be game-ready straight from the box.

You can adjust the slope to different gradients. This either makes your skier go super fast (tricky) or much slower (great for younger players).

Play

The game is for 2-4 players aged 6+.

The youngest player starts the game. The game is split over rounds. Points are gained by completing tricky flips. Players can choose to send their skier down the slop on wither skis, a snowboard, a sledge or in a bathtub!

Players place their skiers at the top of the slope. At the bottom of the slope is knob to turn which tips the skier down the slope. With perfect timing you must tap a button at the bottom of the slope which flips, sending your skier flying!

The kids loved this game right away. They all took it in turns sending their figure down the slope. It took them a little practice to work out when to hit the button at the right time to get their skier to flip and jump, but once they worked out the timing there was no stopping them! It took me ages to get my skier to land the right way up, and not crashing onto his head.

Willow is 6 and seems to be the right age to play this game. My 4 and 3 year olds struggled a little. I had a couple of friends round for coffee and we even had a game while the kids were at school. We were in hysterics and totally addicted to out-doing each other with flips and tricks. Absolutely side-splitting! We even got the skier hitting the ceiling a few times. Oops!

When the kids are away, the adults will (avoid all responsibilities) and play… like complete goofballs. Apologies to my friends for publishing this photo, but it’s HILARIOUS.

Points are recorded on score sheets that come with the game. I would have liked to see more score sheets included as there were only 8 supplied and the amount that my children have played this game, they were used up rather quickly.

Final Thoughts

I can see this game being a huge hit over the Christmas period, with families playing together around the dinner table.

My children have played with this game a lot over the last few weeks, spending time perfecting their tricks. As far as structured game play goes, this is more of a toy than a game for younger players but for older children and adults, it makes a fabulous easy-to-play game to pass the time.
