Bit of Fun

UK Blog Awards Public Voting

IT’S HERE!!!! The UK Blog Awards have landed and it’s time for you to vote… for me obvs.

I never normally do award ceremonies. In all honesty, I get the odd nomination then it never comes to any more than just that. But, for some weird reason this year I have gotten through to the public voting stage of the UK Blog Awards 2017, in the Green and Eco category. Gulp.

So, now it’s all serious and stuff. I never took my blog that seriously. TheNewhouseFamily started 5 years ago as a little fun. My husband suggested that I started a blog writing about the musings of becoming a first time parent. That’s all it was. Then I discovered the joys of cloth nappies, and that became a regular feature for me. That progressed to cloth sanitary items, then that progressed to telling people how to eat well for less, and then I decided to write about how we are on a journey into self-sufficiency or at least trying to become a little more frugal.

In the 5 years of doing this, I have had parents from all walks of life email me questions and praising me for the honesty, hints and tips that I have shared with them. Now, as I write more and more about living a cheaper, greener and more sustainable lifestyle I have featured in various magazines, newspapers and across the web. I have had people stop me in the street thanking me for what I have taught them, and messages from excited folk wanting to dip their toes into the same lifestyle that we have started to create.

My blog suddenly went from being a bit of fun, to becoming a platform for ordinary folk to read (and giggle) and how they can save money and the planet… and quite often their own sanity.

So, please PLEASE vote for me in the UK Blog Awards. All it takes is 30 seconds of your time… if that. Just fill out your email address and select the Green and Eco category. Simples.
